About the NRCME Exam

The NRCME certification exam tests healthcare providers on their ability to perform DOT physical examinations for commercial motor vehicle drivers. Passing the exam qualifies you to serve as a certified medical examiner on the FMCSA National Registry.

The exam covers federal regulations (49 CFR Part 391), medical standards for driver qualification, and clinical assessment skills specific to the DOT physical examination process. The exam has 120 multiple-choice questions and requires a score of 70% or higher to pass.
